Dear Bros and friends of Bros,

This weekend I finished my pre-natal yoga teacher training; I'm so lucky to have spent the last 3 days with 10 very special women. We did yoga, shared, cried, danced, rolled around on the floor, you get the idea; we did things ladies only do when it's just us ladies. Which bring me to the point....

...what happens when it's just the guys? The chance for men to share in this way is a rare and special experience. Yoga is just a small (but important) part of the Broga weekend, it's the vehicle that makes connection and sharing possible. And, when was the last time you got to chop wood and cry like a baby in the same weekend?...we promise we won't tell.

Broga weekend is discounted at $200 (from $325), or give Broga as a gift for the special man in your life.

Love, FonLin

We're also really excited to announce:

Broga: Yoga for Bros by Bros

with Paul, Michael, and Stevie

With its founder Michael Lanzano, Stevie WF, Dominick Schiavone and Paul Manza

A men's only retreat

How does yoga can suit the American man, without apology for, or the pressure to be, what we are and what we are not? In order to change the American social, personal, and political landscape, we must re-imagine the American male. This weekend will definitely include yoga, and might also include shooting guns, lumbering, sleeping outside, knot tying, cooking together, crying, feeling, chanting, hugging, talking it out, and serious inversions. We will offer ancient and modern tools to move beyond the societal constraints toward enhancement and freedom.

We will examine our strengths, vulnerability, (in)flexibility, in order to create and foster a yoga practice that allows us to be who we are without pressure or apology. We will come together as men to delve into our own selves with honesty, humility, and bravery, to re-imagine what it means to be an American male and move beyond societal expectations.

A partner yoga class, vinyasa yoga, restorative yoga, and a partner massage workshop will be surrounded by delicious seasonal food and plenty of time to sit by the fire and walk around this beautiful land we heart. Friday night is date night: partner yoga followed by dinner and a movie. Saturday morning, we'll rise and practice with Kendra while Tyler, her other-not better half, prepares breakfast. Saturday evening, Angi Purinton will teach us how to support each other with a partner massage workshop before dinner. And Sunday morning, you'll have some more yoga and breakfast, or if you're needing a little more relaxation, Angi may lend her hands for a few massages. What could be better for the February chill? Society prescribes what it is to be a man, oftentimes confounding what we permit ourselves to become. We feel this in our bodies and sense this in our thoughts. At times, our spirits are conscious of a tension. Let this be a weekend of deeply exploring who we are as men, and practicing deeply what kind of men we want to be. Let freedom be our guideline. Let us support our brothers in their journeys without expectations. No rules, aside from the urgency to be present, ought to shape us. Through the practice of yoga, we will stretch beyond our perceived limitations and be creative with our masculinity.

Christine is an avid crochet and knitter. She can pretty much crochet or knit anything. Some advice on buying yarn and needles: For first time knitters, a good place to start is with a thick, chunky yarn, it will be easier to learn on. Find something that you will be excited to work with, that feels good to the touch that's in a color that you like. Get a pair of big needles, size 10 or larger. If yarn stores make you nervous, no worries, needles and yarn will be provided!

Get ready for the first ever yoga HOEDOWN y'all!!!!

Labor Day Weekend - September 2nd-5th, 2011

3 days in the Berkshire Mountains, live music of all kinds, yoga, some home cookin, a magical swimming pond, campfires, about a million stars......
...
If you've never been on a "yoga retreat" or already have and just love it so, this is the place to be Labor Day Weekend. It's half yoga retreat, half live music festival, all heart and joy. The idea is to bring together a wider community of folks (including your friends that don't "do" yoga) for a weekend of good old fashioned end of summer fun. Many of the faces you already know and love will be there sharing their talents...and there will be plenty more to meet!

It's all taking place on the top of a mountain at the beautiful Abode Mountain Camp. There's a huge outdoor circus tent for the yoga classes and where musicians will play throughout the day and night. Tons of space to wander, hike and move. Plenty of time to play, rest and rejoice. The main accommodations are your tent and a limited number of private and shared cabins. Outdoor showers and actual bathrooms! And if you're not the "roughin" it type, there are also lovely B&B style accommodations just down the mountain. All your meals will be provided (vegetarian style) either way.

Are you getting excited yet? Well, check this out....

There will be multiple yoga classes of all levels every day, and here's the list of teachers!
